Parenting Resource Center in Austin Appoints New Executive Director

The Parenting Resource Center (PRC) in Austin has announced the appointment of Crystal Vandevender as its new executive director, marking a new phase of leadership for the organization. Vandevender brings extensive experience in education, organizational leadership, and community-focused program management. She will work closely with associate director Troy Goodwater as she steps into the role.

Vandevender holds a master’s degree in educational leadership along with a bachelor’s degree in organizational management. Since assuming her position, she has already begun overseeing key initiatives, including launching the search for a new program coordinator for The Welcome Center—one of PRC’s central outreach programs.

Members of the PRC board cited her strong background in fiscal management, organizational operations, and grant oversight as major strengths during the hiring process. Board chair Paul Bartemes praised her leadership abilities and communication skills, noting that these qualities will play a critical role in strengthening partnerships and advancing the organization’s mission.

“This marks an exciting new chapter for the Parenting Resource Center,” Bartemes said. “We are confident that Crystal’s leadership will help guide the organization toward continued growth and impact.”

With more than 15 years of leadership experience, Vandevender has built a career centered on program coordination and community support. Prior to joining PRC, she served as a senior program coordinator at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, where she managed cross-departmental teams and implemented process improvements aimed at enhancing service delivery and collaboration.

Reflecting on her new role, Vandevender expressed enthusiasm and appreciation for the organization’s mission. “I’m honored to join the Parenting Resource Center and build on its strong foundation of supporting families,” she said. “The staff and volunteers do incredible work every day, and I look forward to listening, learning, and working together to expand what PRC can accomplish as a team.”

As executive director, Vandevender will oversee the nonprofit’s administrative operations and program offerings, including The Welcome Center, Family Support Services, and the Seibel Center, which provides supervised visitation and safe exchange services for families. Located in Austin’s Community Action Building near the post office, PRC also administers drug-prevention grants for local youth and operates a diaper assistance program for families in need.

Her appointment coincides with another leadership addition at PRC: Claire Rosemark has recently been named supervisor of the Seibel Center. Rosemark brings extensive experience from the substance abuse treatment field and has worked closely with individuals and families navigating complex challenges.

Together, these leadership changes reflect PRC’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its services and expanding its reach within the community. Vandevender plans to maintain existing partnerships while also identifying new opportunities for collaboration that align with the organization’s goals.

As the Parenting Resource Center moves forward under new leadership, community members and stakeholders remain optimistic about the organization’s future. With a renewed focus on collaboration, accountability, and service excellence, PRC is well positioned to continue supporting families across the Austin area and beyond.
